Art Journal Gathering — Conversations with Future Me
Join us for a monthly art journal gathering where writing, painting, collage, and mixed media come together as a creative practice of exploration and self-discovery. We will gather on the last Tuesday of every month at the Wicked Wolf upstairs den in Long Beach.
In this first gathering, Conversations with Future Me, we will explore the relationship between who we are today and the person we are becoming through guided writing prompts, intuitive image-making, and mixed media exploration.
You’ll create a personal journal spread using your own words, images, symbols, and creative instincts. No art experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
All mixed media supplies are provided, but you will need to bring your own journal as those will not be provided. You are also welcome to bring any personal materials you'd like to incorporate into your journal, such as copies of photographs, favorite pens, meaningful papers, collage materials, or any creative supplies that inspire you.
What is Mixed Media Art Journaling?
Mixed media art journaling is a creative practice that uses both writing and art-making as a way to explore your inner world. Through paint, collage, words, images, and symbols, the journal becomes a place to follow your curiosity and see what emerges. Each layer adds to the conversation—sometimes revealing connections, ideas, or insights that you may not have discovered through words alone. The process is less about creating a finished artwork and more about allowing the page to become a space for curiosity, expression, and discovery.
What to Bring
BYOJ — Bring Your Own Journal!
I recommend bringing 2 separate journals:
A sketchbook for creating your visual journal pages
An additional journal or notebook for writing and reflection.
Why bring a separate writing journal?
Your words are an important part of this process. You may want to return to your thoughts, reflections, and discoveries later, and having a separate writing journal allows you to revisit those words anytime. The pages in your visual journal may eventually become layered with paint, collage, and imagery, so keeping your writing separate gives those insights a place to be preserved.
You are also welcome to bring:
Photos or images you don't mind collaging
Favorite pens, markers, or art supplies
Meaningful papers or personal collage materials
Tuesday, August 25

Wicked Wolf (upstairs den)
