When was the last time you felt completely alive and in the flow?
Discover a powerful process of intuitive creative expression that can open new pathways for self-discovery, personal insight, and connection to your inner knowing.
People often describe the experience as freeing, surprising, and deeply personal. Intuition Painting® offers a way to step outside the pressure to create something “good” and instead experience creativity as a natural form of exploration and self-discovery.
Artists and non-artists alike can use the process to reconnect with creativity, explore emotions and ideas, shift perspective, and develop greater awareness of their own inner knowing. No previous art experience is necessary. The process is open to anyone who is curious about discovering what can emerge when they let go of expectations and trust their creative instincts.
What Is Intuition Painting?
Born from the expressive arts movement and informed by the visionary work of Aviva Gold, Shaun McNiff, Natalie Rogers, Michelle Cassou, Stewart Cubley, and others, Intuition Painting® was brought into its current form by Montine Blank.
Intuition Painting® is a six-phase, non-directive painting process that combines intuitive creative expression with art-based coaching, creating space for creative freedom, self-discovery, and personal revelation.
At its heart, the process invites you to:
Let go of judgment and the pressure to make something “good”
Loosen your grip on control and expectations
Follow your brush without needing to know what comes next
Stay curious and allow what is ready to emerge
Explore color, mark-making, movement, and layers
Trust your own creative instincts and discover what the painting may have to reveal.
Where Creativity Meets Intuition
Through the process, the painting becomes a conversation with your intuition, Muse, Higher Self—or whatever language feels meaningful to you.
Artists and non-artists alike can use Intuition Painting® to reconnect with creativity, explore their inner world, develop greater self-awareness, and discover new perspectives.
No previous art experience is necessary. The emphasis is on process rather than product—giving yourself the freedom to explore without needing to know where the painting will take you.

What Can Happen When You Let Go
This isn't about technique or creating a painting that looks a certain way. There are no critiques and no pressure to get it right. Instead, you’re invited to let go of judgment, release the need to control the outcome, and become curious about what wants to emerge.
The process offers both structure and freedom:
Structured enough to support you
The six phases provide a framework to guide you through the process, so you always have a place to begin and a direction to explore.
Free enough to surprise you
Within that structure, you are free to follow your intuition, experiment, change direction, and discover something you couldn't have planned.
Open enough to hold what arises
Your painting becomes a place to explore whatever shows up for you—feelings, memories, ideas, questions, images, or simply the pleasure of creating.
Through this process, people may:
Reconnect with creative instincts they have set aside
Experience greater freedom and confidence in their creative expression
Explore emotions, memories, and experiences in a new way
Find clarity or new perspectives
Reconnect with a sense of joy, curiosity, and creative flow
Discover something about themselves through the process of painting
